Ducks and Shirts

We have seen this "sord" (yes a group of ducks on the ground is called a sord, in flight they are called a flock of ducks) of ducks hanging around the area. The other day they were in the neighbors yard, but last night and this morning they were in our front yard. There are six of them all together. I tried to get a picture of them last night but it was too dark and my camera could not capture them.

Here is my new school nurse shirt. Everyone stopped to read it today. My favorite one is #9. You will have to click on the picture to enlarge it to be able to read it.

Chef Eddie

I bought a magazine the other day that had a section in it called "Kids Can Cook". Eddie was looking at it and asked if he could make something out of it. So tonight he made dinner.

He made brownies for dessert and Peppy Macaroni for dinner.

Here he is cracking eggs. Did a good job, no egg shells in the brownies.

He is mixing up the brownies. He was very excited when I got the mixer out and then actually let him use it!

He is getting the Peppy Macaroni casserole out of the oven.

Ta-Da!! The Peppy Macaroni was macaroni and cheese in a casserole dish with pepperoni, pizza sauce and cheese on top. Then it went in the oven to melt the cheese.

He even served us. Too bad Ed was out of town and missed it. It was delicious. The girls now want a night to cook. If Dustin and Ed each take a turn I could only have to cook one night!!!

Look out Emeril, here comes Eddie!!!

And the after school activities begin!

School has started (10 days down, 170 more to go!) and so have the after school activities. Kaila has guard practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with games on Friday nights (first game next week) and sometimes practices on Saturdays. Eddie has boy scouts 3 out of 4 Mondays a month and even though I dont have a picture of Kelli she has started gymnastics on Thursdays. Wednesday is my only none running day! Oh and Sunday school starts in September for Kelli and Eddie, Eddie on Sunday morning , Kelli on Sunday evening. Phew, I am tired just thinking

about it now!

The first two pictures are of Kaila at practice. She is the one in the Orange shirt.

Eddies first boy scout meeting was actually a "back to the pack" party. They had marshmallow shooting contests and ice cream sundaes.

One week of school and......

......I have a sick child and a sick dog! Eddie started to complain about stuffy nose and sore throat last night. Since strep is already going around the school, in his class, I decided to take him to the doctor this afternoon to see if he had strep or not. Thankfully he didn't, so the doctor prescribed fluids, advil and tylenol.

Ethel was acting really strange last evening. She was breathing funny, nose was dry and hot and acting like she didn't feel good. But she is better this morning. Breathing back to normal and eating and drinking okay.

I hope this isn't an indication as to how the rest of the school year is going to go!

One Down........

.......179 more school days to go!!!! But who is counting, certainly not me!!!

Anyways, the first day of school has come and gone without incident, (except for the fender bender in the school parking lot, but it wasn't me!!)

The kids all made it to their schools on time with catching the buses.

It is hard to believe that Eddie is starting his last year of elementary school in 5th grade.

Kaila is starting her junior year of high school.

Kelli is starting her last year of middle school in 8th grade.

All had a little bit of homework tonight and of course we needed more school supplies!

Like I said, only 179 more days to go!!!!!

Sweet Sixteen Party

Last night was Kaila's Sweet Sixteen party at the local bowling alley/game room. We had 15 kids that came plus family and friends. Everyone had a good time. We had dancing, games, cosmic bowling, food, and toasting. The theme of the party was Hollywood. The kids entered through "security" (see below) and walked the red carpet where the paparazzi took pictures. The entered the party room where a slide show of Kailas life was on the big screen. We had lots of food, chicken nuggets, cheese and crackers, popcorn, pretzels, chips, nuts, soda and of course cake.

After we ate and presented Kaila with the "Emmy award" for best leading actress in a Drama series, we toasted her with sparkling grape juice and then went and played games.

Cindy and Ed had fun racing each other on the motorcycles.

Brad was Kaila's security. He stood at the front of the "red carpet" and admitted those on the guest list! He also promised to come on her first date too!

Kaila is trying to teach Ed how to dance!

The Sweet Sixteen cake. It was half chocolate and half white.

The kids bowled and had fun and more food!

Dustin and Kelli had fun shooting dinosauers!

The tables were all decorated with black tableclothes, star confetti, and balloons. Daniel enjoyed eating with the girls!!

A few of the first guests with Kaila. We had four girls that spent the night. I am not sure how late they were up, because we went to bed. But everyone said they had a good time and it was a great party.

Happy Sweet 16, Kaila!

Happy Sweet 16 to Kaila Mae! It is hard to believe that she is 16 years old already! We are planning a family celebration tonight with spaghetti and yellow cake with chocolate icing. Next weekend is the "big" party with her friends at the local bowling alley. We will have bowling, games, food, music and dancing in the theme of Hollywood. After the bowling alley, we are coming back to our house for the "after party". Kaila is very excited about it.

This is Kaila the day we brought her home from the hospital. Isn't she cute!

Kaila always posed with one finger up in the "number one" position. As I recall her Uncle Pat at one point had a Notre Dame #1 sign attached her her picture with her finger up!

What a sweet little girl. . . .

To her recent school picture. She has turned into a beautiful, smart young lady and we are very proud of her!
