Color Guard

Kaila is trying out for Color Guard at her high school. She has practice every day this week after school. Yesterday she learned how to twirl the flag. Today she learned part of a routine. This is a video of the routine. She has been practicing alot. After I picked her up from practice today, a friend came home with her and they practiced some more! I think she looks pretty good!

LOOK OUT!!!!

All of you who drive on the highways and byways of the world, look out! Kaila has her drivers permit!! She passed everything on the first try. She drove from the back entrance of the subdivision to home today (about 3 miles). Not bad, but I am not ready to let her out on the road yet! I told her she needed to get more experience in the subdivision first. Practice makes perfect!

Once Upon a Time.......

Once upon a time there was a baby boy born in Georgia. His Godparents came from Pennsylvania to attend the baptism in Georgia. This little boy has many times made the trip from Georgia to Pennsylvania to see family and would always see his Godparents during the trip. Once, when the boy was making his First Communion, the Godparents planned to fly to Georgia for the ceremony. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond the Godparents control prevented that from happening. However, instead of using the plane tickets for the First Communion, the Godparents decided to come at a different time to fly to Georgia to see the little boy and his family! It was a great visit, and we all had a great time, except that the little boys mom did not have a mirror big enough for the Godmother to see the back of her hair during her morning hair doing session. She told the boys mother that she was not coming back to Georgia again until there was a mirror big enough for her to see the back of her hair. It took a while, but finally there is a mirror in the house in Georgia. Now the Godmother has no excuse to not visit!!! So, Godmother and Godfather, when are you coming to visit? The pool will be open soon!!

Springtime

The weather is starting to turn warmer here in Georgia and the kids are having a good time playing outside. Especially Eddie. He loves to roller blade and pretend to play hockey.

Here he is playing with Halea (the little girl I watch on Wednesdays). He would roller blade all day long if he could!

Here is Kelli holding Cade, Haleas brother. Kelli just loves babies and little kids and does a good job watching them.

Kaila was playing baseball with Halea and took a moment to pose for me to snap her picture.

We only have 26 days of school left this year!!! We are all so excited about that. Eddie and Kelli are in the middle of standardized testing. They still have a few more days next week.
We are all looking forward to summer vacation!!

First Camping Trip of the Year

We booked our first camping of the year back in October. Little did we know that the first weekend would be Kailas Confirmation. So Ed took the camper to the campground on Friday the 4th and friends stayed in the weekend. As you know from the previous blog, Ed was in the hospital on Saturday morning with an emergency appendectomy. He was released from the hospital on Sunday morning. I brought him home, loaded him up with pain medication and we went to the campground. He rested and relaxed (which I am not sure he would have done at home) until Thursday. The weather was a little cool and windy the first part of the week, but by Wednesday and Thursday it was beautiful. The kids rode their bikes, but it was too cold to get into the lake and swim.

Eddie did some fishing with a friend. Unfortunately this is not the fish he caught. But this was about an 8 pound catfish. Eddie had a good time helping to pull this one out of the water.

The girls helped to take care of Ed, who wasn't allowed to do much at all.

This is the sunset from the campground. It was beautiful. We packed everything up and came home on Thursday. Can't wait to go again!

Kailas Confirmation

Kaila's Confirmation was a beautiful ceremony. Pat stood in for Peg as her sponsor. Archbishop Gregory was here and he is a very funny man. He asked many of the candidates questions before confirming them. Kaila got a"cheat sheet" at practice to study. Pat and her studied the questions and felt they knew the answers. Many of the questions were about the Holy Days of Obligation, the sacraments and why a candidate picked their sponsor. Kaila's question from the Archbishop was, "do you want me to ask you and question?" To which she replied "No, not
really!" And she was confirmed. We had a party in the early afternoon before the ceremony. Unfortunately, Ed and I missed the party because he was in the hospital having an emergency appendectomy! I made it home in time to eat, change clothes and take Kaila to church.
