Storms

We had some thunder and lightening tonight while we were getting ready for dinner. Ed and Eddie were on the back patio grilling some chicken when the top of one of the hardwoods snapped off. Here is a picture of the top of the tree laying between our yard and the neighbors. Luckily, it didnt hit anything except the ground. We didn't get much rain, and we really need it badly. The local lake, Lake Lanier, is down 15 feet from full pool.

One Mans Junk.....

.....is another mans treasure! We are having a yard sale this weekend. It is the first one we have had in probably 6 years! We have accumulated at lot of junk er, stuff for the yard sale! While collecting all of the stuff out of the basement, I found a few things that will not be going in the yard sale but caused some weird questions from the kids.

The first one being this 8 track player. I got this as a Christmas gift one year. The kids said "What is that thing?" and when I told them it was an 8 track player they still said what is that? So I had to dig out an old 8 track and show them how it worked. (And it does still work believe it or not) And yes, that is an Olivia Newton John 8 track! (Boy I am really showing my age here!) Eddie said the player looked like a bomb on a carton!

These next few pictures are current pictures of the garage in the state of setting up for the yard sale. It is full. We should have called it a toy and clothes sale. I still have clothes from when the girls were in the lower elementary school grades and Eddies from preschool (I am telling you it has been a while since we have had a sale)

More toys, more clothes!

The middle of the floor is mostly clothes! I still have five bags and a box to go through! I think I might just take those clothes to the donation box that sits at our local Home Depot instead of going through them all!

More reminiscing.... These are some of Kailas very favorite books when she was little. I think Ed and I could still repeat them verbatim, we read them to her so much! Books is one thing I will not get rid of. I dont know why, but my kids loved books and still do. It is one of the things I refuse to let go of. (I also refuse to get rid of my baby crib. Not that I plan to have any more children, but when my children were little and we went to Grammy and Pops house, they slept in the same crib I did as a baby and I thought that was neat. I will have a crib for my grandchildren some day!)

This little item also caused many questions from the kids. This is a Merlin. Also another toy I recieved as a present for Christmas on year. The date on this one is 1978. I remember wanting it so much and of course, Santa came through again that year. Eddie wants me to put batteries in it so he took the back off and when he realized it took 6 batteries (now a days toys take maybe 2 batteries, not 6!) and we only had two of that kind, he put the back on it and asked how he could hook it up to the computer to play it!!! This also, will not be going in the yard sale pile because if the kids have their way, it will have batteries soon and they will be playing with it!

I am looking forward to the yard sale being over and making lots of money! I will let you know how it goes!

Hilton Head Island

We went to Hilton Head Island these past few days. We left on Saturday the 14th and returned home on the 18th. Ed had a business meeting there, so we tagged along. We played on the beach and in the pool most of the time. The weather was great! Only one evening with rain and the kids were tired, so we went to dinner and back to the room.

The kids loved to play in the ocean. One day, the lifeguards got everyone out of the water, for what they said was a shark spotting. I never saw anything and the kids could get back in after about 20 minutes. I am surprised they did! They also saw jelly fish, stingrays, and a horsecrab.

The pool was nice too. They had a huge pool that was 3 1/2 feet deep to 5 feet deep and another side pool that was 6-13 feet deep. They also had an indoor pool.

We ate lunch on the beach several days. Here Eddie made himself a seat in the sand to enjoy lunch!

The kids loved it when Ed got in the water with them.

Eddie got buried on the beach by Ed. He loved it!

Kelli and Eddie loved to jump in the water. The hotel is in the background. We had a room that had a balcony and you could see the ocean from the balcony.

Kaila in the water. The kids are like fishes in the water. They all love it!

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there, mine especially! We celebrated Fathers Day on Friday evening since we are leaving for Hilton Head in the morning. The kids decided to write a book for Ed. One of their favorite books that Ed reads to them is "Don't Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus". So the kids changed it to "Don't Let the Pigeon Ride the Harley". They did a great job with it. They wrote, illustrated and then had it bound at the UPS Store.

We even found a stuffed Pigeon at the local Barnes and Noble. The
kids even signed the book

So, Happy Fathers Day to all of the Fathers out there! I hope everyone has a wonderful day. We will be on the beach in Hilton Head until Wednesday!
