Washington D.C. Trip

This past weekend Ed and I went to Washington D.C. to see Genesis/Phil Collins in concert. We dropped the kids off at my sister-in-laws house and off to the airport we went. We got to the Dulles airport around 2:30 where Peg picked us up and took us to our hotel. We went past the town house that we lived in almost 20 years ago. Shelley and Bob (aka Randy), Eds cousins from PA, showed up around 4:30 that afternoon. We sat outside in a gazebo for several hours, talking, laughing and waiting to meet Jay. Finally, Jay shows up around 10:30-11:00pm. Nice guy, but I am sure we scared him a little because we didnt see him again until the next evening! The next morning, Shelley, Randy, Ed and I headed into downtown Washington D.C. to see some sites. We walk all over the mall area and saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Capital building, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial and the WWII Memorial. I think we walked several miles that afternoon. We met Peg and Jay at a resturant, had dinner and then went to the concert. The concert was a little late getting started, Phil and band are older now and I guess they needed an afternoon nap first! But the concert was good and we had a good time. We got back to our hotel room around 1:00am. Sat and laughed some more and went to bed around 2am. Ed and I were up at 6:15am to catch our flight back to Atlanta. As we are getting off the airplane a voice behind us says, "Mr. and Mrs. Copenhaver, just keep walking" It turns out to be Pat, who just flew into Atlanta for meeting. We didnt get to visit long, but it was nice to see him. Ed and I are exhausted, but had a great time! Can't wait for the next one!!! The pictures are: Ed and Randy solving the worlds problems on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, us finally meeting Jay, Ed and I in front of the Washington Monument, and Shelley, probably laughing at one of the many funny stories Ed was telling!

May I make one correction...Jay arrived at 9pm (not 10:30-11pm). Remember, you have spent more time with him than Mom and Dad have! ;-)

Had a great time.. hope you all can come back again soon!!!

And for the record, you didn't scare Jay, he thinks Ed is funny at Sh_t. ;-)
