RIP Roxy

On January 18, 2013, Roxanne passed peacefully into doggy heaven to join our other dogs, Herbie and Casey.

Roxy was 13 years old.  She had been sick for about 3 months, had lost a lot of weight over the last 6 months.  She was about 35 pounds when she got sick and on the day she passed, she was down to 5 pounds, skin and bones.  The vet felt that since she had lost so much weight, was vomiting occasionally and not really eating much that more then likely it was a form of stomach cancer.  She had stopped eating completely, and we were carrying her up and down the steps because of her arthritis in her hips.  I took her to the vet on Friday morning and the vet agreed that it was her time to go to doggy heaven.

Roxy joined our family in the year 2000.  She was a little itty bitty black Cocker Spaniel with white on her paws, chin and chest.  The kids loved her as she was the first puppy for them. They loved to hold her, but as Kaila will tell you, we didn't want them constantly picking her up, we wanted her to be able to explore her new surroundings.

Roxy loved to lay on top of things, mostly clothes or anything as long as it was not the floor.  Even on the couch, she had to lay on a blanket.  You would most often find her in one of the kids bedrooms on the clothes they left on the floor!
Roxy always loved to be outside.  We would often find her sitting in the back yard looking out over everything and making sure things were okay!  We used to call her the Mayor.
Roxanne loved to go camping with us because she loved being outside.  She used to love to chase the horses outside one of our homes.
Ethel and Roxy got along well, but Ethel was always the dominate one.  Ethel has been lost the last few days without Roxy.  She seems to be looking for Roxy and follows me around every where.

Roxy will be missed by all of us, she was a good dog, and I know in doggy heaven she is getting all the treats she wants and has lots of cloths to lay on!

Rest in Peace, Roxanne
